What shall you be aware of?

Change in color, shape, size in a new mole or in an existing mole should result in a physician examination.

Check you skin systematically. Ask a family member or a friend to help you to check body regions that are difficult for you to see. Use a mirror. Please remember to check the hair, nails, feet.

If you find a mole that shows one of the ABCDE features, it is important that a physician examines you. It is impossible to see on the skin surface how deep the melanoma is in the skin. If the melanoma is more than 1 mm thick there risk of spreading in the body is increased.

Please see below the examples of the benign moles and melanoma. The pictures are just examples and therefore if you are in doubts please contact your doctor. The website is aimed as an additional help and the owners do take any responsibility how you use the website. Please contact you doctor if you have a supicion of melanoma or other skin cancer.
